If you are expecting your child to carpool or be transported by a daycare van, please notify your child's teacher prior to the opening of school so that your child will be in the proper location for afternoon pick-up.
Bus Riders:
Please review these important bus guidelines for Briarcliff Elementary. Students are called by bus number to walk to the bus loop which is located at the end of the yellow (2nd and 3rd grade) hall. If you have questions, please call the school and the Assistant Principal, Mr. Grant, can help you.
Carpool Procedures
For carpool, students should be dropped off no earlier than 7:50am and picked up
no later than 3:15pm. Briarcliff is located on a small residential street, easily leading to congestion. Please follow all the carpool procedures to ease congestion and make the streets as safe as possible during pickup from school.
Carpool procedures: Enter the neighborhood off Maynard Road onto WICKLOW Street at the traffic light. Turn onto ARRUNDALE Street and head towards to POND Street to enter the carpool line. Please DO NOT enter directly on to Pond Street from Maynard; this situation leads to dangerous congestion. After checking the crosswalk in front of the school, enter the first drive at Briarcliff, proceed to the back and turn around at the circle. Please display your child's last name, written in large black letters on sturdy paper for a staff member to record.
Staff members will line up students in the same order of cars so that we can quickly load 4 cars at once with the wonderful help of our Safety Patrol students. Drivers should pull fully into the designated position for quick loading. With everyone's cooperation, carpool should be completed typically by 3:15p.m.
Daycare Vans
Students who go to private daycare are dismissed at the 3:00p.m. bell and should walk directly to the bus loop. Students should sit by the sign for their daycare bus until they can be safely loaded by a staff member or trained Safety Patrol student.
Walkers
Students that are meeting parents, siblings, or other students must meet by the bike rack. Walkers are dismissed several minutes after the first group of stsudents to ease hallway congestion. Middle and high school students are not allowed on campus at dismissal time.
Parking
There is absolutely NO parking on Pond Street during dismissal as this causes congestion and delays for buses and special education cabs. Parents must park in designated visitor parking at the front of the school if you wish to meet your child or come into school. No students will be allowed to cross Pond Street without a parent.
Messages
Please make every effort to tell your child how to get home each day, prior to sending the child to school. If you have a change in the mode of transportation on a particular day, please send a note to your child's teacher. If the teacher does not receive a note, your child will be sent home by his/her regular mode of transportation. If you forget to send a note and need your child's transportation changed, please call the office before 1:00pm.
